Kiya Ye Taraqqi Hai? Tumharey Liye Ya Humarey Liye?(Is It Progress? For You or For Us?), an exhibition of works by Zahabia Khozema, focusing on Karachi's public policies with a particular emphasis on the demolitions at Kauser Niazi Colony at Gujjar Nullah.
Through diverse mediums such as visual storytelling, poetry, drawing, printmaking, installation, video, and photography, the exhibition illuminates the broken urban infrastructure, the housing crisis, and the devastating effects of climate change on Karachi's citizens. As an artist who firmly believes in a multidisciplinary approach, Khozema challenges viewers to consider the personal and political causes and the collective struggles faced by Karachi's marginalized communities.
She creates an environment for meaningful discussions around development ideals and the real-life consequences they cause, including economic crises, IMF-inflicted austerity, and state-sponsored violence. Khozema’s work highlights the need for policies that endorse equity and social justice in society.
