Alefiya Abbas Ali
Alefiya Abbas Ali is a Traditional Islamic Artist based in Karachi, Pakistan. She holds a degree in Fine Arts with a distinction from the Karachi School of Arts and a postgraduate diploma in Traditional Islamic Arts from the VM Center of Traditional Arts. Her art is inspired by Islam and the architecture of Mamluk, Safavid, Fatimid and Mughal eras. As a participant in multiple national and international exhibitions, and as a teacher of Traditional Art workshops, Alefiya finds sharing knowledge fuel for her creativity. She practices traditional methods, from creating her own paints from natural pigments extracted from semi-precious stones, minerals, plants and animals to making shell gold from pure gold leaves. She aims to revive the Traditional Islamic Arts so they may be recognized and celebrated today as they were in the past.
