Arshia Sohail
Arshia is based in Lahore and her art works evolve around the exploration of mediums while interpreting the words into installation. She received a BFA (HONS.) in Painting from the Institute of Art and design, G.C.U.F in 2011 and an MA (hons) in Visual Arts from NCA in 2015.
Her art works consist of text/words and its relation to everyone and to their everyday experiences. To explore the possibilities of presenting the words in text form and how it can be re-contextualized by its visual presentation. While interacting with the artwork, the viewer inadvertently becomes the subject. Materials and methods used in making of artwork reflect and include outside/surroundings to draw attention to its contextual dependency and the subjective understanding of individual words.
Her work has been exhibited in solo as well as group shows nationally. She along with upto 2300 artists from 93 countries participated in the BLOOOM award by WARSTEINER, 2017 and picked up second place at Art Dusseldorf, Germany.
In addition to art practice, her experiences include visiting faculty member at NCA, Asstt. Curator at Zahoor ul Akhlaq Gallery, NCA.
