Rebecca Huxley

Rebecca Huxley is a co-director of Lumens Studios and is an artist-researcher from Stoke-on-Trent, based in London. Rebecca creates experimental installations and archive studies, often using photography, sound, writing, video and community participation. Her work currently considers the democratisation of scientific research and classification, the concept of the observatory, the imperceptibility of light and sound in relationships between human and nonhuman animals, and the politics of listening. Rebecca often works with scientists and other researchers on projects to engage communities in accessible experiences of ‘nature’. Projects and commissions include: ACE DYCP Grant (2022-2023), ‘Environment Artist in Residence’ with the Canal & River Trust (2021-2022), inaugural resident at the Low Carbon Design Institute (2021); ‘Insecurity’ with Eastside Projects and University of Birmingham (2021), A-N artist bursary (2020), EU cultural foundation grant (2019); group film exhibition for Work Body Leisure at the Dutch Pavillion, Venice Biennale (2018). Rebecca has an MA at the Centre for Research Architecture Goldsmiths and a BA in Fine Art (Hons) from Chelsea College of Art.
