The Worlds We Create

The Worlds We Create, a group exhibition curated by Zahabia Khozema that features the works of Ayesha Sultan, Layl Ali, Menal Bano and Sabeen Yameen.

The worlds we weave, and the worlds we leave,

the dreams we live, and the dreams we escape,

are the bargains we make, are the lives we live.

My gendered experience of existing, negotiating and coinhabiting various spaces inspired the materialisation of The Worlds We Create. I invited different artists to bring their struggles, interpretations and the devices they deploy to make their lives possible in this world. Through their work, these thinkers and makers have opened enriched lines of inquiry with the aid of memories, lived realities, metaphors and folklore.
