Bashir Mirza

Bashir Mirza (1941-2000), also known as BM, was born in Amritsar, India. During the time of Partition, he along with his family moved to Pakistan. Mirza’s early days were fraught with suffering. Going through the struggle of migration, the family faced many financial hardships. However, despite of all adversities he pursued his passion of art by receiving professional training from the National College of Arts (NCA) in 1962. His batch was the first to graduate from the renowned art school that was formerly known as the Mayo School of Arts. His colleagues at NCA included Zahoor ul Akhlaque, Ahmed Khan, Akhtar Hilal Zuberi, Nayyar Ali Dada and Salahuddin Mian amongst others.
