C.W. Jefferys

Charles William Jefferys was a Canadian painter, illustrator, author and teacher. An inspiration for many artists, Jeffery’s played a hand in forming Canada’s most famous group of landscape painter, the Group of Seven. Additionally, he also worked for different publications such as, Toronto Globe, New York Herald and Hardware Merchandising as an illustrator. Soon after Jefferys' death in 1952, more than 1000 of his drawings were sold to the Imperial Oil Company, which in 1972 were donated to Library and Archives Canada.
